Unfortunately can't operate a transmitter 2.4 GHz directly with the USM-HL. The USM HL requires a receiver, where the "HL-RX-18 Protocol" comes out. Normal 2.4 GHz systems deliver on the receiver outputs but the usual "standard signal" from 1.0 2.0 ms pulses.
The "RC2HL" are a possibility-adapter boards that there are from different manufacturers. These adapter boards convert the 1.0-2.0 ms pulses of a normal RC receiver to the HL-RX-18-log, which can be evaluated again by the USM-HL.
For completeness:
The new 2.4 GHz will not work with the USM HL HL transmitter (E.g. Tai gene or Torro)! Here, the receiver is integrated directly into the RX-18 and it can therefore be picked up no signal for the sound module. The Protocol of this 2.4 GHz is also accessible systems not using the USM-HL.
What still is, to incorporate as the USM-RC-2 in "Analog mode" in a tank. However, the wiring is much higher here. Also, the functions/sounds of the sound module are then unfortunately fairly limited.
